Puppy training course outline

​Below are all the skills you and your dog will learn during your time on our course-

  • Learn the basic theory behind positive reinforcement

  • Correct use of commands and marker words including tone of voice

  • How to read your dog’s body language

  • Talk and practical on puppy mouthing, toileting, chewing, boredom and more

  • Socialisation with other dogs, including coming away from dogs

  • Socialisation with other people, including greeting appropriately

  • Sit/down/stand/eye contact

  • Loose lead work and heelwork

  • Recall in a variety of different situations

  • Talk about the best way to leaving your puppy alone and settle work

  • General manners, around doorways, food and other scenarios

  • General tricks and fun games

  • Q+A during and after sessions

 

All of the above will be practiced inside and outside (where appropriate) in different real life scenarios.

During these sessions we will tutor you and your dog, however, it is necessary to practice this at home to get the best results. We are always conscious of what each owner wants to work on when they join our class and will do our best to cater for the needs of the whole class.

At the end of the course you will be able to take one of our follow up courses. If we feel the dog has progressed enough you can move up to the Dog training course where we will make it more challenging for the dog and owner. As an alternative if you are happy with your progression through the training course then you could always sign up for our canine freestyle/ tricks classes.

Adolescent course outline

Below are all the skills you and your dog will learn during your time on our course. Although similar to Puppy content we will advance them on appropriately to make for a more challenging class environment.


•    Learn the basic theory behind positive reinforcement
•    Correct use of commands and marker words including tone of voice
•    How to read your dog’s body language
•    Socialisation with other dogs, including coming away from dogs
•    Socialisation with other people, including greeting appropriately 
•    Sit/down/stand/eye contact
•    Loose lead work and heelwork
•    Recall in a variety of different situations
•    Settle on bed (off switch) and Send away to bed (‘on your bed’) 
•    General manners, around doorways, food and other scenarios 
•    Teaching dogs to ‘Leave’ 
•    ‘Stop and drop’ an emergency stop
•    Touch nose to hand (target training)
•    General tricks and fun games
•    Q+A during and after sessions

All of the above will be practiced inside and outside (where appropriate) in different real life scenarios.
During these sessions we will tutor you and your dog, however, it is necessary to practice this at home to get the best results. We are always conscious of what each owner wants to work on when they join our class and will do our best to cater for the needs of the whole class.
At the end of the course you will be able to take one of our follow up courses. If we feel the dog has progressed enough you can move up to the advanced class where we will delve deeper into training theory and make it more challenging for the dog and owner. As an alternative if you are happy with your progression through the training course then you could always sign up for our canine freestyle/ tricks classes. 

 

Outdoor class anchor

Outdoor/indoor classes outline

This class will enable you the opportunity to book on with your dog every week. These classes will not be structured like our courses but they will offer unique opportunities. Outlined below are what you should expect from our larger outdoor classes. 


•    Training with up to 10 other dogs present
•    Not be tied into a 5 week course, you can choose when you want to come
•    Broken into appropriate sections and we display a behaviour for you then to practice
•    A safe space and gives you a reason to train with your dog
•    Socialisation will be a part of the class (all dogs must be social)
•    Practice basics in an outdoor environment 
•    We will show and guide you into more advanced behaviours 
•    RECALLS in a safe environment 
•    Aimed to be fun for both humans and dogs
•    A more relaxed approach to training
•    All positive reinforcement (no choke chains/slip leads/aversive equipment)
•    Requests at the start of class are allowed but may not guaranteed to
 cover these
•    Q+A after sessions, unfortunately not much 1-2-1 time during classes
